We are a higher education preparatory school, that offers top-class instruction to help students prepare for higher education, together with advice on living in Japan.
Okayama, often called the "land of fair weather," features a comfortable climate with many clear days. The cost-of-living is lower than Tokyo, allowing you to focus on studying and to live a more comfortable lifestyle. People have said that it is easier to live in Okayama Prefecture compared with other regions of Japan, as there are fewer earthquakes and other natural disasters.
We are just a five minute walk from Okayama Station. The school is located in a convenient and quiet area.
International students can attend school festivals, athletic meets, trial classes, and other events in which they can interact with Japanese students studying at five schools including our sister school, OKAYAMA BEAUTY MODE.
Okayama is only three-and-a-half hours by Shinkansen to Tokyo, and only 40 minutes to Osaka. You can go take an entrance exam and return to Okayama the same day, allowing you to take exams at several schools in other prefectures. Take as many entrance exams as you like—the choice is yours.
Many students choose to attend our optional supplementary classes. Launched in 2007, these classes cover liberal arts subjects, math, physics, biology, and chemistry. Some of our students have attended these classes and then have gone on to earn top scores even in subjects other than Japanese language.
During your first year you will focus on learning Japanese. From your second year, you will be put into a class based on your plans after graduating OBC, whether you plan to advance to graduate school, university, or vocational school. Once you have been admitted to OBC, you will have several individual interviews with your advisor, decide what you will do after graduating from OBC before the summer of your second year, and then begin taking entrance exams in autumn. You can also advance to higher education during your first year, if you can pass your entrance exam
Our preparatory classrooms provide information on universities and vocational schools, application requirements, advancement reports, and past admission examination questions, allowing you to continue to research how best to advance to higher education. These classrooms can be used for a range of purposes, such as browsing school webpages or borrowing Japanese language materials.
We also offer vocational courses to prepare students to get jobs at companies that are popular among international students, providing an option for internal advancement. Each school is nearby, allowing you to start studying a vocation for the future without changing your environment.

Our dorms are priced lower than other buildings in Okayama Prefecture, and are located in a quiet area. A full-time dorm manager is on staff to provide peace of mind if there is an emergency such as a sudden illness.
Learning outside the campus both inside and outside the prefecture is a great way to get a deeper understanding of Japanese culture. In addition to participating in school festivals and athletic meets, students also visit a shrine at the start of each year to learn something new about Japan. Annual health checkups are conducted to keep students healthy.
OBC can introduce students to part-time work, and information on these jobs is posted on the campus bulletin board. We also sell blank resumes for use when applying for part-time work.
